SS-31 30 mg
Cardiolipin-targeted tetrapeptide · the only one FDA-approved (Barth syndrome), its other large trials failed
A synthetic tetrapeptide, D-Arg-Dmt-Lys-Phe-NH2, also known as SS-31, MTP-131 or Bendavia, developed by Stealth BioTherapeutics. Unlike most peptides in this catalog, it does not act on a cell-surface receptor: it concentrates selectively in the mitochondria's inner membrane and binds cardiolipin, a lipid that there stabilizes the structure of mitochondrial cristae and the electron transport chains. It is one of the few peptides in this category with real, large controlled clinical trials, and in September 2025 it became the only one in this catalog with an FDA approval: accelerated approval to improve muscle strength in Barth syndrome, under the brand name Forzinity. It was also tested in primary mitochondrial myopathy and in dry age-related macular degeneration with geographic atrophy, without meeting its main goals in either case.
